Last week the Irish incarnation of First Dates finally arrived on our screens.
From Federica who got a bit too close for comfort with her date to poor Amy who FRANKLY DESERVED BETTER, the show got off to a cracking start.
Naturally, people absolutely loved it and it was no different this week.
We saw Mark and Gemma, who had been on a date before many moons ago that Mark couldn’t quite recall, Ciara and Kias (Kias has picked up women in Nandos), Conor and Laura (Laura was INTO Conor), Dawn and Alannah Rose (no joy here), and Corey and Melissa (DOTES).
There was talk of smelling like grandads and wisdom from maitre d’ and love guru Mateo.
Can I go on a first date with Mateo?! #FirstDatesIreland ??

Can’t believe Mark didn’t recognise Gemma.

Fellas, would this actually work on you?
What have we learned from #FirstDatesIreland tonight ?
“You smell like my Grandad” is a legitimate chat up line to use on a guy you fancy

I don’t understand why on #FirstDatesIreland they’ve having an actual dinner (that isn’t Charlies) & not awkward pints in whelans or grogans
— Ann Marie Duffin (@AmDuffin) April 28, 2016
“In a really nice way, you smell like my grandad.” #LineOfTheYear #FirstDatesIreland

Viewers were LOVING Corey’s chivalry:
‘I’ll help you over a puddle’ – quality line ? #FirstDatesIreland
— Siobhán Walsh (@Shanghainoons) April 28, 2016
People were also a little shocked that the daters have to stump up the cash for their meals:
Like do the heads who make #FirstDatesIreland at least give them dosh to cover the night out & Zaytoon after if not the bill for dinner?

Corey showed his Galwegian culinary heritage off:
Loving the Supermacs analogy. You can take the boy out of Galway…. #FirstDatesIreland
— Siobhan Nic Uidhir (@SiobhanNicEar) April 28, 2016
I’ve never been disappointed by a SuperMacs #FirstDatesIreland #FirstDatesIRL

Alannah Rose and Dawn’s date couldn’t have gone worse, really:
She’s not even trying to hide the fact that she could care less about seeing her again #FirstDatesIreland

The mortification as you see two people who just went on a terrible date get in the lift together.
Too awkward.

Someone give Ciara a medal.
This was the episode summed up, and we can’t wait for next week’s.
Watching the #FirstDatesIRL updates on the couples at the end:
