The new series of The X-Files will be aired in January, it has been confirmed.
Speculation about the reboot of the classic series had reached fever pitch in recent months and Fox have now announced that a six-part series will be screened in the US on January 24th 2016.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will return as FBI Agents Mulder and Scully and it is believed that its return could be extended if the initial series, described as “one long movie”, gets a good reception from audiences.
“We always wanted to keep it going. We always envisioned a movie franchise when we stopped the TV show, and we did two — the second one did well, but I guess not well enough to do a third, and we were all kind of disappointed that didn’t happen that way,” said Duchovny recently.
