The trailer for Netflix’s intense new limited series Unbelievable is here.
Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever plays Marie Adler, a teenager who files a police report claiming that she had been sexually assaulted by an intruder in her own home.
However, the investigators – as well as the people who are closest to Marie – doubt her story, leading her to recant her report.
Hundreds of miles away, detectives Grace Rasmussen and Karen Duvall (played by Toni Collette and Merritt Wever) are investigating two rapes with an eerily similar M.O. and partner together to catch a potential serial rapist.
The limited series, which will debut on Netflix in September, is based on T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong’s Pulitzer Prize-winning article from The Marshall project and ProPublica, An Unbelievable Story of Rape; as well as This American Life radio episode, Anatomy of Doubt, with episodes directed by Oscar nominees Susannah Grant and Lisa Cholodenko.
Grant is showrunner on the series, which tells the intense story of unspeakable trauma, unwavering tenacity and astounding resilience.
She also executive produces the series, from CBS Television Studios, along with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Lisa Cholodenko, Ayelet Waldman, Michael Chabon, Katie Couric, Richard Tofel, Neil Barsky, Robyn Semien, and Marie.
Unbelievable arrives on Netflix on September 13 – and you can check out the trailer below.
