Is it finally time to #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend?

Fans on Twitter are not impressed...

Disney really needs to get its act together and cop on. It’s 2016 after all.

Following the abysmal rates of LGBT representation in Disney movies, fans are crying out for more gay characters in their favourite film franchises.

One GLAAD report found that Disney failed to include a single LGBT character in its major 2015 movies, including those from its Lucasfilm and Marvel branches.

There has already been a campaign to encourage Disney to make Elsa from Frozen the first LGBTQ princess, and Marvel fans are hoping one of their favourite characters Captain America will be paired with a same-sex partner.

Throughout his cinematic adventures, Captain America’s Steve Rodgers has had only two female partners: Peggy Carter in The First Avenger and Sharon Carter (Peggy’s niece – ew) in Civil War.

Unfortunately for him, Peggy passed away, and his relationship with Sharon is pretty awful.

So could there possibly be some scope for the Captain to fall in love with another captain?

Twitter users were quick to matchmake Steve with potential matches:

Maybe it’s finally time for movies to try a bit harder and relate to absolutely everyone, especially including LGBTQ teens and children.
