Last night was a pretty big deal for Graham Norton as he picked up the National Television Awards Special Recognition accolade for his years of service to broadcasting.
Clearly delighted with the gong, the Cork native got up on stage and rambled off a list of thank-you’s but after he’d gone backstage, he realised he actually forgot someone very important.
The presenter gave a special mention to his management and a number of close friends but he only went and left out his Mammy Rhonda.
Graham quickly picked up on the error of his ways and chatting to waiting press, he said:
“This lovely award will turn to hell because as I was walking off I thought, ‘Oh my God I forgot to thank my mother’”.

Although he thanked her afterwards, which you can see in the above clip, he wasn’t sure she would see it and he was clearly annoyed with himself for forgetting.
You really can’t beat the Mammy when all is said and done…
