The first trailer for season two of The Sinner is here – and it’s seriously creepy.

The highly acclaimed Netflix drama will be returning later this summer, with Carrie Coon set to take over the leading role from Jessica Biel.

It has also been confirmed that Detective Harry Ambrose, played by Bill Pullman, will be coming back for season two.

A synopsis for the season explains:

“In the wake of the Cora Tannetti case, Detective Harry Ambrose is called back to his hometown in distant rural New York to assess a disturbing new crime: an 11-year-old boy’s horrific double-homicide & his seemingly inexplicable motive.

“As Ambrose comes to realise there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, his investigation leads him straight into the hidden darkness of his hometown and pitting him against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets.”

You can check out the trailer below.

Jessica Biel starred as Cora Tannetti in the first season, which was adapted from a best-selling novel from crime author Petra Hammesfahr.

he eight-part series followed the mystery surrounding a young mum, played by Biel, after she kills a stranger in public – and then claims she didn’t know what sparked her to commit the violent crime.

While Biel will not be returning in the role of Tannetti in the second season, she will be coming back as an executive producer.

The series is expected to return on USA Network on August 1 – and we’ve got our fingers crossed that it’s arrival on Netflix won’t be too far behind.
