Get the tissues ready.
Not many modern-day rom-coms have lived up to iconic films like When Harry Met Sally, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and The Holiday, but there is one that is up there with the classics and that’s About Time.
The charming rom-com is set in London in the 2010s and features one of the most moving scenes in rom-com history.
And it’s on RTÉ 2 tonight at 9.30 pm.
About Time follows time-traveller Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson), who discovers he can travel back in time on his 21st birthday. Tim’s father (Bill Nighy) reveals he can travel back in time to the moments they lived before. Tim decides to use his power to find true love, but it doesn’t work as smoothly as he hoped.
That is until he meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), an American book publisher. The pair quickly fall in love, with the most perfect rom-com soundtrack playing alongside their love story.
The heartwarming rom-com not only follows Tim and Mary’s beautiful relationship but Tim’s relationship with his dad, who is played perfectly by Bill Nighy.
Watch this rom-com for that beach scene alone, but have the tissues ready.
About Time reminds us how important it is to live in the moment with the people who matter most to us. It shows us that we can find joy in every day without it having to be perfect.
It’s a movie that will make you appreciate the little things, the momentous moments, and the people you love most.
“The truth is I now don’t travel back at all, not even for the day. I just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it, as if it was the full final day of my extraordinary, ordinary life.”
About Time is on RTÉ 2 tonight at 9.30 pm.
