He has previously spoken out in support of gay rights but actor Jonah Hill has been hit with a barrage of criticism today after being caught on camera using a homophobic slur.
In footage captured by American gossip website TMZ, Hill is seen being followed by photographers while out with a friend in LA. One of the group is heard saying “I like the shorts though, bro. They are pretty sexy” and after approximately 40 seconds, the 22 Jump Street actor responds “Suck my d***, you f*****!”.
The comment has been met with anger online, with a number of fans showing their disgust at the move.
Just seen the Jonah Hill “f****t” vid after he told @ENews: “I have tons of gay friends, gay family members…” So not cool, @JonahHill.

Hill has since apologised for the move, telling DJ Howard Stern that he took full responsibility for his actions.
He explained that the photographer in question had been following him around all day and saying hurtful things about his family but admitted “what I said in that moment was disgusting… I shouldn’t have said that”.
