“It was a shock and devastated all of us who loved him.”

Tributes have been paid to actor Joey Morgan who has died, aged 28.

Morgan, who was best known for his role in comedy film Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, passed away on Sunday, November 21.

His representative confirmed his death, stating: “Joey Morgan passed away early Sunday morning. It was a shock and devastated all of us who loved him. He will be dearly missed.

“We hope everyone understands how painful this is for his loved ones and can respect boundaries and allow them to grieve in private.”

Morgan rose to fame following his casting as Augie Foster in Scouts Guide, and was later named one of nine Breakout Talents in the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival for his role in 2017 indie film Flower.

He later appeared in TV series such as Critters: A New Binge, Angie Tribeca, and Netflix’s Sierra Burgess is a Loser.

Tributes have since been paid across social media for the 28-year-old following news of his passing.

Fellow actor Zoey Deutch shared a photo of herself and Morgan on the set of Flower and said: “Rest in peace Joey. A deeply kind, talented, special person. We love you.”

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse star Patrick Schwarzenegge said: “What?!? No. Such a hilarious bright star when I worked with him. Wow. This is awful,” while the film’s director Christopher Landon tweeted his own tribute.

“Joey Morgan came into my life nearly 9 years ago when I made Scouts,” he wrote.

“He was quiet, funny, intelligent and thoughtful. And when the cameras rolled he was magnetic. He passed today and the news is heartbreaking. I am honoured to have known him.”
