Michael Schumacher has been in a coma since the 29th December following a skiing accident in the French Alps but is showing positive signs of recovery according to his management.

The seven-time Formula One world champion’s agent, Sabine Kehm, revealed that his condition is improving.

“I can only say again: There are signs that give us encouragement,” she said in a statement.

Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing two operations to remove blood clots from his brain.

“Michael is making progress on his way. He shows moments of consciousness and awakening,” she continued.

According the The Mirror, Sabrine also dispelled rumours that Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, planned to turn their Swiss family home into a multi-million pound hospital.

“The rumours that Corinna remodels her house to bring the supposedly ‘hopeless case Michael’ home, are absolutely groundless.”

Last week the former F1 driver’s chief doctor, Gary Hartstein, took to his blog to say that he thought there had been “serious lapses of judgement” and told fans to prepare for the worst.

The post read: “As time goes on it becomes less and less likely that Michael will emerge to any significant extent. I think that serious lapses of judgement were evident during Michael’s initial management – I have this from usually impeccable sources who have access to this information.”

Schumacher remains in a waking-up process at the University of Grenoble Hospital in France.
