Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the notorious Kardashian/Jenner dynasty is no stranger to controversy, but her latest photoshoot has been criticised for being ‘ableist’ by many.
In the photoshoot for Interview Magazine shot by photographer Stephen Klein, the 18 year old is seen sitting in a gold wheelchair wearing a PVC bodysuit.
Many disabled people are angry at the shoot because of the portrayal of a wheelchair as a fashion accessory as opposed to a necessity for many individuals to go about their daily lives. They argue the use of a wheelchair as a prop is demeaning to people who have to live with disabilities that affect their mobility.
WTF is this cover. Why the wheelchair? Seriously, Interview Magazine and Kylie… https://t.co/aBojWWIXp6 pic.twitter.com/DGeh7LcEf4

As someone in a wheelchair @KylieJenner @InterviewMag, this is offensive. My chair is not haute couture. pic.twitter.com/y3sBaiJzIH

Even if the concept for the shoot wasn’t strictly Kylie’s idea, maybe it wasn’t the best aesthetic choice ever.
