Joan Rivers’ daughter has filed a lawsuit against the clinic where the comedian died, citing “incompetency” and “outrageous behaviour” as the reasons behind her decision.

The Fashion Police star died following a routine throat operation at Yorksville Endoscopy and daughter Melissa said in a statement today that filing the lawsuit was “one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make”.

“What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, Cooper and I have been through. The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behaviour is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible,” she said.

According to Mirror Online, the papers claim that two doctors and three anesthesiologists who treated Rivers “failed to properly observe and monitor her vital signs, which were deteriorating”.

“Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better. It is my goal to make sure that this kind of horrific medical treatment never happens to anyone again.”
