Well, that is a lot of money.
We have another royal wedding to look forward to in October, when Princess Eugenie of York ties the knot.
I’m super excited.
However, I’m probably super excited because I’m not a tax-paying British citizen.
Why? Well, this wedding is costing them a pretty penny, it would seem.
It has been suggested that the cost of security on the day will be £2 million.
And that’s before anyone has enjoyed a slice of cake or a glass of bubbly.
Jesus.
Apparently, Princess Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, has insisted that his youngest daughter have a lavish wedding fit for a royal.
She is ninth in line for the throne, after all.
However, the extravagance of the big day has pissed some people off, due to the large amount of tax payer’s money being spent.
Emma Dent Coad, Labour MP for Kensington (where a number of royals live) said:
“In these times of heightened security risks it is irresponsible for a minor member of the royal family to have a high-profile, very public wedding.
“This may be the time to review the role and cost of minor royals.”
Emma hun, I’m gonna stop you there.
I don’t know if The Queen of England would be overjoyed to hear you call her granddaughter a “minor royal”…
Princess Eugenie’s wedding will be held in St George’s Chapel on October 12.
