Cillian Murphy has Peaky Blinders fans feeling hopeful

The actor, who has been having quite the year since the release of Oppenheimer back in July, has revealed he’s open to revisiting one of his most iconic characters.

During an interview for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ series, Barbie star Margot Robbie went full fangirl asking Cillian if he would ever play Tommy Shelby again.

Though we’re used to hearing the usual story from actors, stating that there’s no more tale to tell, the Cork man’s answer was different.

“I mean, I’m open to the idea. I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell,” he said much to Margot’s delight.

“I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell,” he continues, at which point the Barbie star interjects, “Of course there’s more story to tell.”

Although he’s up for it, the Irish man did point out: “I also do think it was a perfect six seasons… it’s sometimes hard to move into the film format, and I do like the ambiguity of the ending. But I’m always open to a great script.”

Elsewhere the two stars discussed the Barbenheimer madness that absolutely ruled the summer.

Margot said one of the producers for Oppenheimer called to suggest that she and the rest of the Barbie team shift their release so the two films wouldn’t go up against each other.

“And I was like, ‘We’re not moving our date. If you’re scared to be up against us, then you move your date.’ And he’s like, ‘We’re not moving our date. I just think it’d be better for you to move.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving!'” the Australian actress recalled.

She then explained why she stood her ground, saying: “I think this is a really great pairing actually. It’s a perfect double billing, ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie.'”

“That was a good instinct,” Murphy responded.

“Clearly the world agreed,” Robbie added. “Thank God.”
