Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she was paid ten per cent of her male co-star’s salary on one of her blockbuster movies.
The actress has had a hugely successful career on the silver screen following her breakthrough role in Mean Girls but in a new Sunday Times interview, the 29-year-old said that the gender pay gap is still a major issue.
She also confirmed to the newspaper that she was paid a small percentage of what her male co-star received in one of her leading roles.
“A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10 percent of what my male co-star was getting. And we were pretty even in status,” she said.
The star, who is dating actor Justin Long, also admitted that her relaxed demeanour sometimes leads people to take advantage.
“I think people think that just because I’m easygoing and game to do things, I’ll just take as little as they offer. It’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.”
