All you need for festival fun.

In our new weekly feature we’re picking a highlight that’s landed on the Her.ie beauty desk and giving you the lowdown on the beauty break-through, the budget and the reasons you should buy…

The Beauty Buzz

Festival season is in full swing and while bringing along a full-on make-up bag isn’t exactly feasible, there are a couple of products you need in your beauty arsenal.

Meet “Festival Hair”, two products created by haircare aficionado Kevin Murphy: Fresh Hair will “dry clean” your locks while Colour Bug provides intense flashes of neon shades that wash out immediately.

The Beauty Brand

Kevin Murphy is a respected name in the fashion and beauty industry, having worked across many different platforms including high fashion, magazine shoots and film.

After training at Vidal Sassoon in London, he returned to Australia where he soon became known as one of the world’s best hair stylists.

He regularly works with Australian Vogue and he is the man in the know when it comes to ‘beach hair’. His vast experience led him to create products that deliver results and are easy to use.

The Beauty Break-through

The philosophy behind Kevin Murphy hair care is interesting: in addition to the usual benefits of adding strength, shine and softness to your locks, the stylist wants to “deliver skincare benefits” to your hair.

Vitamins and amino acids repair the hair, natural butters repair cuticles while antioxidants work to reduce breakage and repair any damage wreaked by the use of chemicals.

The Beauty Budget

Colour Bug is priced at €18 and Fresh Hair retails at €22. While they may might be a little pricey, you’re paying for a salon brand and a lot of research has gone into these products to ensure they deliver the promised results.

They Say: Speaking about Color Bug, Kevin said: “I have been experimenting with pigments since the 80’s – obsessed with the powdered wigs of the French Revolution. The influence came from those times but I wanted it to be intense and almost fluro [to] make it modern”.

The idea for Fresh Hair came from Kevin’s experience of working backstage at numerous fashion weeks: “While working shows at Fashion Week, I found that top models have about 30mins to get unmade and remade.

“I needed a product that removed all the work from the previous show in a flash. FRESH.HAIR will dissolve excess product, giving the appearance of freshly washed hair.”

We Say: We’ve been searching for a dry shampoo that actually works for quite some time and we *think* we may have found “THE ONE”.

Fresh Hair doesn’t leave any of that horrible white powdery residue that looks like you’ve dumped half a bottle of Johnson’s Baby Powder on your scalp.

It also smells yummy and adds softness, perfect for when you need to freshen your locks on the go.

While Colour Bug isn’t for everyone, it’s the ideal way to change up your style for a summer festival. Seeing as you can immediately wash it out afterwards, what’s not to love?!
