Last night, MTV confirmed the news that fans of The Hills have been waiting for.
Fans rejoiced over the news as some of the cast had a mini-reunion on the red carpet at the MTV VMA’s on Monday.
The show, aptly called The Hills: New Beginnings, is expected to reunite some of the original cast – and hit TV screens sometime in 2019.
But it looks like everyone’s favourite frenemies – Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari – won’t be joining the reboot for some understandable (but wildly different) reasons.
A source told People that Lauren “wishes everyone the best”, as they confirmed why she won’t be taking part in the newly revived series.
They said:
“She’s in a different place in her life.
“But she wants everyone to enjoy themselves. She wishes everyone the best.
“She loves being a mother and focusing on her family and on her work. She has a very full and happy life.”
Since she left the series in the penultimate season back in 2009, the now-32-year-old has been working on her fashion line with Kohl’s, running her website and managing a non-profit.
She also welcomed her first child, Liam, in 2017.
Meanwhile, one of the reasons that Kristin Cavallari won’t be joining the series is because of her other show – Very Cavallari.
Her reality TV show with E! follows her life with husband Jay Cutler, as well as her management of her brand, Uncommon James.
A source told People:
“She can’t do the show [The Hills reboot] because she has a contract with E!.
“But she’s still close with Heidi [Montag] and Spencer [Pratt] and is excited for them.”
