Cats are taking over.
You might not take much notice of the ads around you, but it seems that some people really don’t like seeing ads in public places.
We’re guessing London commuters are going to be slightly confused over the next few weeks as more and more images of cats replace product advertising in the tube stations.
A group of people were so annoyed by ads that they came up with an initiative called Citizens Advertising Takeover service or CATs for short!
It is a crowdfunding group which aims to get rid of as much consumer product advertising as possible and replace them with images of feline friends instead.
It seems a little bizarre but the CATs initiative has been wildly supported. They have managed to raise £23,000 on their kickstarter already, giving them enough to cover Clapham Common station in London.
“Wouldn’t it be great not to worry about the holiday we can’t afford, the car we don’t need, or the body we don’t have? Imagine a world where public spaces made you feel pawsitive.” The kickstarter description reads.”

They group themselves admit that while it seems like a silly idea, it could say a lot about consumerism.
“Dumb yes, but also this is about trying something, flexing our collective voice in the most idiotic of ways. From all this madness something amazing could happen. Perhaps we’ll start to realise that buying stuff isn’t making us happy.
Maybe cats won’t make us happy either, but it’s got to be better than insurance adverts.”
Would you like to see something like this in Ireland? Though we’re guessing people would prefer pictures of dogs.
