What are we going to watch now?
It’s been an emotional couple of weeks for Irish rugby fans around the world after the boys in green bowed out of the Rugby World Cup following a defeat to Argentina in the quarter-finals.
Despite the emotional rollercoaster of defeat, injuries and a touching farewell to Paul O’Connell though, the eyes of Ireland and indeed, the world, were trained on the TV today as Australia and New Zealand went head-to-head in the World Cup Final.
New Zealand’s Ma’a Nonu celebrates scoring a try.
A cracking game ensued, with a close opening quarter followed by a period of New Zealand dominance and then, just when critics everywhere had written Australia off completely, all of a sudden it was game on once more.
Despite their determination though, it wasn’t to be and the All Blacks ran out deserving winners, 34-17 in the end, but what a game, and what a reaction there was.
