An earthquake of 8.3 magnitude has hit off the coast of Chile.
The quake has reportedly left five people dead and has forced over one million people to flee their homes.
The earthquake is said to have shaken buildings in the capital Santiago which is believed to be about 280km to the south of the epicentre.
“Once again we’re having to deal with another harsh blow from nature,” said President Michelle Bachelet.
Tsunami advisories were issued for parts of South America, Hawaii, California and French Polynesia.
