It’s official – Petra Kvitova will not be defending her Wimbledon title this year, having suffered defeat to an on-form Serena Williams this afternoon.
The pair met at the quarter-final stage of the tournament, and four-times winner Williams was well able for the reigning champion, serving up a 6-3 7-5 win.
Serena, who has not earned a grand slam title since her Wimbledon win two years ago, will now take on either Victoria Azarenka or Tamira Paszeck in her semi-final game.
