Police in Alaska travelled to a couple’s home to inform them of their son’s death, despite the fact that he was alive and staying at his girlfriend’s house.
The Priest family received the devastating news at 3am and travelled to tell their other son that his brother Justin had been killed in a car accident.
The three then went to Justin’s girlfriend’s house to break the news but were shocked to find their son there alive and well at 5am.
According to Associated Press, Justin initially thought his parents were the victims of a scam but after “lots of hugging, lots of tears,” he called police to tell them they had identified the wrong Justin Priest.
Juneau police have apologized for the mistake, saying “I’m almost speechless for words. This shouldn’t happen”.
