Golden retriever Sunny delivers groceries to his owner’s neighbour and what a good boy

Cathy Donohue

Golden retriever Sunny delivers groceries to his owner’s neighbour and he is the definition of a very good boy.

In a world where bad news seems to be increasingly dominant, we’re highlighting as many positive pieces as we can with today’s update introducing Sunny.

The golden retriever has been bringing shopping to his owner’s neighbour, Renee, who is having a tough time at the moment as she undergoes self-isolation.

Karen Eveleth has lived beside Renee Hellman for over ten years and because Renee can’t leave home right now, they devised a clever way to ensure she has everything she needs.

Karen has trained Sunny to collects Renee’s shopping list every day and in the evening, he drops the groceries to her front door.

In conversation with KKTV, Karen explained how Sunny has been pivotal in looking after her friend.

Renee has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has to self-isolate due to fears of contracting the Covid-19 virus.

At a very lonely time, Sunny’s visits provide a daily respite amidst the boredom and monotony, providing her with a “way of communicating”.

She said that what her friend and pet have been doing is a “wonderful thing” and it’s been a real treat while Karen hopes that this story will make others smile.

Sunny, also known as Sundance (could he get any cuter, am NO!!!) has been helping Renee for a few weeks now and the friends say this will continue for as long as necessary.

This is the type of feel-good story that’s sure to resonate with people the world over and make you hug your doggo that little bit tighter too.
