Ed Sheeran’s manager has vowed that he will “arrange something” for the survivor of a crash in Athy.
The #singfordayna campaign was launched on Twitter in an effort to persuade Sheeran to sing at the bedside of Dayna Kearney, who was the driver of a car that collided with a van on the N78 last Tuesday.
Dayna’s four best friends Ashling Middleton, Chermaine Carroll, Gemma Nolan and Niamh Doyle lost their lives in the accident and the student was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
According to Carlow IT welfare officer Sandra Duane, Dayna is now “stable and talking” but will face a “slow recovery”.
The campaign has gained traction in recent days, with several celebrities, including musician Hozier and Kodaline, sending a #messagefordayna online.
Sheeran’s manager also took to the social network to confirm that something will be arranged for the 20-year-old.

Gardaí are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the horror crash and are understood to have ruled out dangerous driving as the cause of the incident.
According to the Irish Times, it is now thought that a tyre on the girls’ car may have blown out, causing the vehicle to leave the lane and collide with the van.
The driver and passenger of the van were treated for non life-threatening injuries in hospital following the crash.
