The chihuahua was taken by the seagull yesterday.
A dog has been reported missing in England after being snatched from a back garden by a seagull.
The miniature chihuahua, named Gizmo, was picked up by the bird from his owner’s garden on Sunday and carried away in its beak.
Gizmo’s owner, Becca Hill, said that she doesn’t know where the dog is now.
“My partner was in the garden putting the washing out at the time and suddenly he saw it swoop down,” she told Devon Live.
“It carried Gizmo a fair way as we couldn’t see him anymore. I have no idea if he was dropped or where he is now.”
Hill later added on Facebook that her six-year-old daughter is “very upset” by Gizmo’s absence.
While it is extremely rare for seagulls to exhibit such behaviour, it is not impossible for the birds to attempt to snatch dogs.
In 2015, a seagull attacked and tried to pick up a Jack Russell in the UK before its owner heard the pet’s cries.
The dog was rescued before the seagull could carry it away.
