Country on Yellow Alert As Met Eireann Forecast Heavy Rain

Met Eireann have issued a national weather warning and has put the country on yellow alert this morning.

The Irish forecaster is predicting thundery showers across the south and mid-west which will gradually extend to other areas of the country throughout the morning.

Warnings are in place for localized spot flooding.

The showers are expected to continue on into tonight, though they will become less frequent and longer clear spells will emerge.

There is expected to be patches of fog in place.

Meanwhile there is also a status yellow small craft warning in effect.
