An individual was arrested this Thursday in Argenteuil, a suburb north of Paris this evening.
The Guardian reports that the French interior minister Bernard Cazaneuve confirmed that a ‘high-level’ suspect that was involved in planning an attack in France at ‘an advanced stage’ was arrested at around 5.30pm.
Cazaneuve went on to say an attack had been foiled: “These searches follow an arrest by the DGSI (intelligence services) on Thursday morning that allowed us to stop a planned bombing in France that was at an advanced stage.”
The suspect is of French nationality and is a member of a terrorist network. They had been under surveillance for several months since November’s attacks in the capital.
