Remembering Whitney – One Year on From Her Untimely Death We Countdown our Favourite Houston Tracks

Today marks the first anniversary of arguably one of the greatest singers to ever grace the stage. Her.ie counts down our five favourite tracks from the songstress who was affectionately known to many as "The Voice."

Sue Murphy

From amazing ballads which ensured album sales that eclipsed everyone elses, to her wonderful 80’s dance numbers, Whitney Houston was like no other performer. Here are the favourite tracks from the Her.ie office to mark the one year anniversary of the superstar’s death…

5. My Love is Your Love

A hugely succesful collaboration with friend Wyclef Jean, the song featured her daughter Bobbi and proved to be one of Whitney’s biggest hits.

4. I Have Nothing

Ever tried to hit that note while singing into your hairbrush? Can you ever manage to reach it? No? Us neither.

3. How Will I Know

Another classic from her first album, How Will I Know was originally intended for Janet Jackson but became Houston’s second number one from her debut album. We love the hairband in this video too…

 2. I Will Always Love You

The iconic cover of the Dolly Parton track and the theme track for her film, The Bodyguard, Whitney made a monster hit out of the classic country and western song.

1. I Wanna Dance with Somebody.

Do you know anyone that won’t dance to this song? If so, that person is zero craic. A perfect slice of pop brilliance, this is Whitney gold.
