These are a few of our favourite things… for this week at least.

A Campaign With A Difference

This week Grace took a trip down to Wood Quay Venue for a launch with a difference. Concern Worldwide kick started their incredible #send1brick campaign, with an evening of ‘Stories to Inspire’. Guest speaker at the event, Mark Pollock, gave the small crowd a brief synopsis of his journey and his continued efforts to find a cure for paralysis. His phenomenal story led in perfectly to the message and work the staff at Concern wish to get across in their latest touching campaign as they aim to raise funds to help rebuild hospitals in Sierra Leone and in turn save thousands of lives.

Show your concern by joining their #send1brick campaign and help make Sierra Leone’s future one of hope, dignity and good health – Text BRICK to 57500 to donate €2.50.

Cheers and Chips

Michelle spent the Bank Holiday weekend in the Treaty city, and returned with a pain in her face from smiling. If you haven’t paid a visit to Limerick, 2014 is the year to do is, as the Shannon-side gem in Munster’s crown holds the title of this year’s City of Culture. To mark the celebrations, there is a full calendar of fun events taking place all throughout the year. Michelle’s visit coincided with the inaugural Culture & Chips festival, and lets just say she is already planning a return visit for next year’s fun. Epic.

New Shoes…

Shoe obsessed Cathy (well pretty much anything you can wear obsessed Cathy) was very excited to hear about the recently revamped Buffalo shoe store in Dublin’s city centre. Appropriately titled the “Shoe Lab” it’s full of gorgeous footwear. Metallic stilettos, Isabel Marant style ankle boots, summer espadrilles and block heels. If you’re a bit of a Carrie Bradshaw, you need to check it out.

Ah sco-on, sco-on, have a scone

Our pal The Cupcake Bloke is one of the nominees for the Best Scone in Ireland competition. Having sampled the merchandise this week, we couldn’t vote for anyone else. DELISH!

Turn It Up

Nothing makes Marie happier than to see great music coming from homegrown acts so she was thrilled to have a sneaky listen to The Hot Sprockets’ new album Brother Nature over the last week. The second album from the Dublin band combines blues with rock, soul and countless other musical influences and the results are pretty impressive. If you fancy catching them live, the band will launch the album with a gig at the Button Factory this Saturday night.

Gaming galore!

This week Úna managed to get her hands on Fallout 3 for the PS3 for just €8 – bargain. Set in a post-apocalyptic world and embracing all things sci-fi, this game is designed by the studio that made the fantasy epic Skyrim. Sold! She’s looking forward to playing it at the weekend.

Game, Set, Match

Rebecca has been glued to the French Open tennis this week and is looking forward to spending another weekend in front of the television cheering on her favourite players. Her highlights of the tournament so far have been the match between Svetlana Kuznetsova and Petra Kvitova along with the quarter-final between Andy Murray and Gael Monfils. But with the finals set for the coming days, there’s still plenty more to come.

Animal Magic

This week, Sue paid a visit to the DPSCA shelter out in Mount Venus Road in Rathfarnham for a piece she will be writing next week. Of course, she had to be dragged out of the shelter as she was just having the time of her life with all her new friends. The DSPCA does amazing work rescuing animals and preventing animal cruelty. The below is some of the new pals that she made.

The New Black?

Liz knows she’s late to the game with this one, but she decided to start watching Orange is the New Black since there was so much hype over Season 2 starting up. Well it’s safe to say she’s now addicted. She may have (ok definitely did) watch the entire first season in three days and is now on countdown mode to find out what’s happening with Piper and the crew from June 6th.

Berry, berry nice

Eating healthy is easier when you get some delicious deliveries in to the office during the week. So, we were very pleased to see these delicious treats from Keeling’s arrive in. They might be substantially bigger punnets… but they were still gone in seconds!
