President Obama made a live TV appearance yesterday as he introduced new gun control plans for the United States.

The measures will include thorough background checks and stricter restrictions on gun sales by unlicensed dealers.

CNN reports that the American economy will invest heavily in this plan with research into gun safety technology, 200 more ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) agents and FBI staff will be hired, and a further  $500m will be allocated to ensure there is access to mental health care.

America’s leader then became visibly upset as he talked about the first-graders shot dead in the 2010 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary school.

Obama said every time he thinks of how these children were violently murdered, he gets angry.

“We know we can’t stop every act of violence, every act of evil in the world, but maybe we can try to stop one act of evil, one act of violence.

“We maybe can’t save everybody, but we can save some”.
