Everyone knows we are massive fans of the Garda Twitter account here at Her Towers but even we’re not too sure what to make of the tweet they sent out last night.
The tweet was posted just after 10pm and asked followers to guess if the driver of the car pictured was male or female.
According to reports, those involved in the incident did not sustain any serious injuries.
Quiz Male or female driver ? How ? give reasons for your answer- location M50 just after m50/m1 roundabout pic.twitter.com/U7zAlrmPYw

Some of the account’s followers gave a straightforward answer to the question but a number of people were extremely annoyed with the tweet.
Here’s what Twitter had to say, but what do you think?
@GardaTraffic Female. Bloke woulda cleared the barrier

@GardaTraffic Answer is Male , Reason for my answer is that you tweeted a pic of him earlier ,

@GardaTraffic male or female????? What the hell is that about?? I hope no one was seriously hurt.
— Deborah Curran (@DeborahCurran) February 12, 2015
@GardaTraffic Really? Does it matter what gender the driver was?
— Belle (@limmster) February 12, 2015
Not sure the gender @GardaTraffic, but can answer the ‘how’. Whoever was driving was trying to avoid the high horse you’ve all jumped up on.

@GardaTraffic are you going to explain the intent of this tweet?
— Cormac Keenan (@cormackeenanlfc) February 12, 2015
@GardaTraffic You were doing so well on Twitter! Why?!
— Sarah Whiteacre (@sarahwhiteacre) February 12, 2015
@GardaTraffic Sometimes ye should remember this is twitter and not after-hours in Coppers.
— despod (@despod) February 12, 2015
@deshocks @GardaTraffic they had already tweeted a picture of the male driver. I presume they were testing our detective skills 🙂
— Nicola Mitchell (@mitchellnicola) February 12, 2015
@mitchellnicola @deshocks @GardaTraffic Think it’s really inappropriate even making the joke.
— Bat Bollocks (@Dodslaw) February 12, 2015
@GardaTraffic lucky driver regardless of gender. What was the reason for this daring manoeuvre
— Michael Creamer (@dicreamio) February 12, 2015
@GardaTraffic what an unprofessional uneducated tweet, why does it matter what the gender was?
