Weekend Roundup: Ten Things We Loved This Week

These are a few of our favourite things... for this week at least, we're fickle like that.

Just hours to the weekend, how excited are we?!

We’re seriously feeling the Friday love… here’s what got the Her.ie office in a good mood this week.

The ladies of Her.ie say goodbye to one member of the Her and JOE family that has played a huge part in ensuring that the office was provided with craic, laughter, smiles and emojis! The lovely Amy O’ Gara, known to her friends as ‘Red Amy’, leaves us today and in a bid to show her just how much she’ll be missed, we thought it only right to give her a farewell on the pages of Her.ie.

Amy, we hate goodbyes… Excuse us, someone is cutting onions nearby. *Wipes away tear*

Oasis sent us some gorgeous images of their autumn winter collection this week and Cathy hasn’t stopped talking about them since. While she’s pretty much obsessed with every piece, the cropped floral top and matching midi skirt are particular favourites. Roll on payday…

It may be released just over a month ago but our girl Grace is still obsessed with the Delorento’s latest video Show Me Love. The song will be the first single taken from the band’s fourth album, Night Becomes Light, which was producer by Mercury Prize winner Rob Kirwan. The four-piece play a special gig tonight at Merrion Square as part of nationwide Culture Night.

Marie recently paid a trip to Athlone and came across a great watersports centre called Baysports. The centre offers everything from kayaking and Chinese dragon boating to a brilliant inflatable waterpart, which was one of the best laughs she’s had in ages. Whether on a family break or a weekend away with the girls, it gets a big thumbs up from us!

The Her.ie team have a lot of time for fashion and have been known to screech and scream when the words sale and swap are mentioned. Of course, when the idea also does something for charity, it’s a definite win win situation. Sitting Room Swish is a fundraiser for Dress for Success, a charity funded by Sonya Lennon, which helps to get women back into the workplace. Check out the website here, hanging out with your friends and swapping clothes, is there anything better?!

Rebecca is loving Stella & Dot’s new Foundation Bracelets – Inspire and Strength – which are €39 each.  Stella & Dot announced earlier this week that the Irish Charity benefiting from the net proceeds of the sale of the bracelets is the Marie Keating Foundation which means that they are both stylish and for a good cause. It’s a win win!!

Last week we told you all about the official 3arena launch and the spectacular projection display, the largest Ireland has ever seen… Well now we’ve got the video to share the colour experience with you all. Be sure to watch the clip in full, it is pretty amazing.

A huge thank you to Barnardo’s for sending the Her.ie team in a massive bucket of treats to mark National Collection Day. Remember, if you’ve got any unwanted items that deserve a good home elsewhere, drop them off at your nearest Barnardo’s shop.

They’ve got skills. Vodafone kicked started celebrations with the phenomenally talented International basketball acrobats and Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Face Team. Dubliners were treated to a spectacle of speed and agility to celebrate the expansion of the mobile network’s superfast 4G across the capital. Watch the lads in action below. Impressive stuff…

Liz loves that when each September rolls around, that some of the country’s greatest arts and culture hotspots open up to the public for a free evening of great entertainment. From wandering around music studios, to taking in some of the culture and heritage sites, Liz plans on whiling away her Friday night taking in all Dublin has to offer.

If you’re not sure what’s taking place in your area for this year’s culture night, take a look of the national line-up here!
