It’s been a year since that dreadful day in Boston when a bomb went off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring 260 more. However, Boston soldiered on for the marathon this year and its many competitors, 36,000 in total, decided it was extrememly important that they run in memory of those who suffered in 2013.
Nothing could have got the spirit of the Boston Marathon across better than a series of photos taken by Wesley Lowery, a Washington Post reporter who was covering the event.
The images show a runner who collapsed at the finish line, but in the true spirit of the race this year, four runners helped him across the finish line.
This is just amazing.
Determined, the two new saviors lifted his legs. He had just a few hundred feet to go. They would get him there pic.twitter.com/5tXvNyDGUJ

The crowd exploded into loudest cheer I’ve heard today. Walking, then jogging, they all, all 5, finished the race pic.twitter.com/HE4QJnh35L
