So, Barbara locked eyed on her target and went in all guns blazing. Luckily, a snapper was on hand to capture the moment for posterity.
After the race, the picture went viral and Barbara decided to run with it, no pun intended.

She launched a campaign to find the mystery man and see if sparks might fly when the pair were off the track.
This week, she finally found him. Or at least, his wife.
Barbara's campaign saw her receive a letter from the spouse of the unnamed man, but far from the poison pen you might expect - it really was a case of no hard feelings.
"We all thought this story was hilarious, because it is just like my husband to do that," the man's wife said.
"It was one of many memorable stories from a great weekend in Boston."
"While this may not be the ending that you had hoped for, that spontaneous, silly moment in Wellesley captured the fun energy and spirit of the Boston Marathon. I greatly admire your spunk and courage and wish you many happy races in the future."
Oh well. At least she still has her medal to show for it.
