Joan Price was the oldest runner in the Boston Marathon – crossing the finish line at 8.06pm. The 73 year old then celebrated with a pint of Guinness.
Joan, an Irish ex-pat who has spent much of her life in America found herself a little lost near the end of the race, but was guided back on track by spectators and volunteers still on site.
The active pensioner told Irish Central:
“Even though I was the last regular runner to finish, I’m ecstatic, and only a little sore.”
Joan wasn’t the only one celebrating, with Associated Press congratulating the runner on her victory. Tweeting their support, the media group posted:

The active senior citizen has ran more than 20 marathons, but this was her first time competing in the Boston Marathon.
After crossing the finish line, Price told reporters:
“We first went out and had a pint of Guinness which is, I always do that after the marathons.”
A woman after our own hearts.
