Elderly Woman Gets Trapped in Supermarket After She Fails to Check Out on Time

Now, we don’t know about you but if we ever got locked into a supermarket overnight, we’d make a beeline for the biscuit aisle and eat our weight in Jaffa Cakes in an attempt to console ourselves.

However, this lady didn’t touch a bit of food or drink when she found herself in a similar situation because she was just too polite. Yes, this is a strange story…

A pensioner got trapped in a supermarket on New Year’s Eve and wasn’t found until the store opened again the next day.

The Daily Mail reports that the bizarre incident took place on Monday night in an Intermarche shop in Roubaix in northern France. Apparently the 73-year-old woman felt faint and wandered into a supermarket toilet in order to gather herself.

When she came out of loo, the entire store had been shut down for the holiday and she was totally alone. Awful or what?

The pensioner had to spend her New Year’s Eve wandering the aisles alone

The pensioner, who has not been named, set off an alarm within the store but no one came to her aid so she was forced to spend her New Year’s Eve roaming the deserted aisles.

A spokesman for the store told reporters that the woman had tried to get some sleep in a back office, but she wasn’t able to.

“She didn’t think to help herself to food or drink in the shop,” he noted.

The woman was eventually found by a member of staff on New Year’s Day and was taken to a nearby hospital to make sure she was okay. Thankfully, she was okay although we bet she was probably raging she didn’t help herself to some champagne or chocolate during her lock-in!
