A number of commuters got a nice surprise this morning on the Luas as just when they thought it was going to be a normal day, Luas helped to make their day that extra bit special.
Kicking off this morning for the first time, Luas began their #BooksOnLuas campaign in support of the ninth annual Dublin Book Festival which runs from Thursday, November 13th until Sunday, November 16th. The campaign saw books left out on the seats of the Luas for commuters to avail of.
The Luas Book Sharing initiative runs on November 11th and 12th with books being left on selected Luas trams across the Red and Green lines.

“Commuters are invited to take a book, read it and then return it another day for someone else to read,” the Luas website states. “Tweet if you find a book #BookOnLuas.”
There’s a large variety of events planned for this weekend’s Dublin Book Festival, centred around the Smock Alley Theatre which is situated on Exchange Street Lower in Temple Bar.
In the meantime, the novel Luas idea has earned a lot of fans on Twitter.
What a great idea the book giveaway is. Wish I took the Luas! #BooksOnLuas

Even better than getting a free #BooksOnLuas is seeing the delight of new passengers getting on and seeing a book on their seat!
