Happy Birthday!
Yesterday, Dublin Airport celebrated its 78th birthday.
The airport opened for business on Friday, January 19, 1940 with just one flight to Liverpool’s Speke Airport.
Shortly after 9am, an Aer Lingus airplane took off from the grass runway close to the terminal, which was still being built at that time.
The airport shared photos and videos throughout the day, and we have to say they’re the ultimate throwback:
