Each week Her.ie will look at a new cook book, giving you the inside scoop whether the recipes cut the mustard. From health kicks, to wholesome foods, we find out what books offer the best insights for budding cooks!

This week: Cooking the Weight Watchers Way – Recipes for the ProPoints system with many Filling & Healthy foods

For anyone following a diet plan, it can be easy to get stuck in the rut of the few reliable favourites. For a Weight Watchers member, this can usually be determined by knowing the points per food group and managing your daily allowance.

So it’s understandable that every now and again you’ll grow bored of your regular food routines. Cooking the Weight Watchers Way is a practical cookbook that provides easy to make meal plans, with each serving portion valued at 10 ProPoints or lower.

The book also offers up suggestions from comfort foods and quick fixes for those that are hungry on a schedule, as well as guilt-free treats (because we all know chocolate can be the downfall).

Cooking the Weight Watchers Way caters to anyone on the Filling & Healthy plan, with each recipe clearly indicating how much of your weekly ProPoints allowance you’ll need to use to prepare the meal.

The book goes beyond salads and bakes as regularly seen in Weight Watchers recipe forums, and shares everything from the homemade turkey burger, to the Thai vegetable bowl as well as orange and chocolate chip bread and butter pudding and spiced cranberry and blueberry muffins.

As well as strong imagery, and using ingredients that you’ll easily put your hands on in the supermarket, ‘cook’s tips’, otherwise known as insider tips will make your life a little easier if you’re getting used to the new plan (ProPoints was introduced only in the last year or two) or if you’re a Healthy & Filling follower.

For people who get bored easily, each recipe also comes with a variation so you can take your favourite recipes and give them a new lease of life with a different vegetable/ spice/ or meat mix.

While some recipes are simply snack suggestions, there are plenty of options for those willing to experiment in the kitchen without tipping the scales.
