Bank Holiday! Here Are Seven Plans You Should Make For The Long Weekend

Make the most of that sun!

Sue Murphy

Thankfully, another bank holiday weekend is on the way and with the promise of good weather for the weekend, there are plenty of plans we can make for our long weekend. Here are just seven things you can get up to this weekend in the good weather!

1. Beach

Well, it is the most obvious one we could go for here but with that good weather, we should really be taking advantage of that good weather and building some sand castles. Bring a picnic, make a day for it, go for a road trip. It’s going to be amazing.

2. Play some sport!

We know that you may want to play some beach volleyball here, but you should probably consider playing a nice game of tennis. Yes, you can do that on the beach as well. We are entirely aware you would like most activities to revolve around the beach this weekend!

3. Have a picnic.

If you are not planning on getting sand into basically everything over the next few days, it may be worth chilling out in the park with a nice picnic and some great reads. You may bring one or two alcoholic beverages. Just one or two now, mind.

4. BBQ!

Summer only comes around once a year and in this country for maybe a couple of weeks a year so it is entirely worth hosting a barbecue. Get everyone over to the house, make some homemade coleslaw, get the meat on the barbecue. Don’t forget the tunes!

5. Festivals.

Yes, the weather is going to turn quite quickly, it’s probably turning right now as we are writing this but if it is still good, you should really be at a festival and we can assure you there are plenty for the long weekend. Check up Discover Ireland to see what is going on near you, get the wellies out (just in case) and enjoy the performances.

6. Movie screenings.

There’s nothing better than being able to sit outside after 6pm with a cardigan on and if you are in love with the outdoors and film, then we would suggest you get yourself along to an outdoor screening.

7. Sailing.

So technically it’s near enough to the beach but we reckon water sports are most definitely the way to go this weekend. You may some find some sailing classes going on in your area, if you do, take advantage, it’s definitely worth getting out there. On top of that, try some paddle-boarding, surfing or anything that gets you out on the open water.
