August bank holiday supermarket opening times for Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, and more

Jody Coffey

Opening times may vary this weekend.

As we approach the long-awaited, albeit rainy, August Bank Holiday weekend, we often forget to check the minor changes in opening hours of our trusted local supermarkets.

To save you a wasted journey, we have compiled a list of the opening hours of Ireland’s main grocery providers.

Tesco

The chain of Tesco’s across Ireland will not see any changes to their regular opening hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Many of the Tesco Express’ will be open from 7am until 10pm on Monday, while Tesco Metro’s look set to open from 9am until 8pm.

However, Monday could see adjusted hours for certain locations nationwide. Be sure to check out the Tesco Store Locater to make sure your nearest one is open before visiting.

Dunnes Stores

It will be business as usual for your local Dunnes Stores on Saturday and Sunday as they plan to operate under their normal hours.

However, many of the Dunnes locations will work under Holiday opening hours on Monday (11am – 7pm), and can vary depending on location, so best to check before you make your way down to your local location.

SuperValu

It is anticipated that Supervalu’s hours will remain unchanged for Saturday and Sunday, with many working under their usual Sunday hours on Bank Holiday Monday.

Best to keep on eye on the Supervalu Store Locator if you’re planning a trip on Monday, just in case certain locations have made adjustments to their hours.

Lidl

On Bank Holiday Monday, Lidl will operate under their regular Sunday hours (9am – 9pm). Saturday times are 8am – 10pm, so you won’t go without this August Bank Holiday if you’re a Lidl shopper.

That Lidl bakery won’t know what hit it come Monday morning.

ALDI

Good news for ALDI lovers as this weekend, ALDI’s stores will be open as normal.

For those hoping to peruse Aldi’s Aisle of shame on Monday, stores plan to open between 9am and 9pm.
