Amazon gave a preview of some of their Black Friday deals earlier today but now the online shopping retailer has given customers cause for concern due to a security breach.
Metro UK reports that some customers received an email today explaining that a number of passwords may have “been stored or transmitted insecurely”.
The company has not yet confirmed details to any media outlet but the email obtained by Boy Genius Report reportedly reads: “[Amazon] recently discovered that your password may have been improperly stored on your device or transmitted to Amazon in a way that could potentially expose it to a third party”.
“We have corrected the issue to prevent this exposure.”
Amazon released some of their shopping deals today
It is not yet clear how many people have been affected and according to reports, people have had to force-reset their password.
If you’re an Amazon shopper or if you’ve used the same password for other sites, it’s no harm to change your password as an extra security measure.
Many people have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns.
