There is a LOT to be said for a best friend, someone who’s there for you through thick and thin and always has your back no matter what.
When you were younger, circa primary school, chances are the more ‘best friends’ you had, the more popular you were.
As you grow older, you learn that having one special friend is far more important than multiple acquaintances.
Here are just a few of the things that make a friend a best friend.
You can tell him/her ANYTHING
It doesn’t matter what it is, you can tell your best friend anything and everything. This is the one person who won’t judge you and will simply try to make it all better.
He/she knows what you’re thinking
A best friend knows exactly what you’re thinking.
You know exactly what we mean.
A shared look across a room before you both dissolve into uncontrollable giggles or the fact that a Domino’s meal deal is ordered without even asking.
The only person who will be BRUTALLY honest with you
It’s never easy to hear home truths but your best friend will always deliver on this one.
Although it may not be easy to hear at the time, you’ll thank him/her in the long run.
In times of need
If you’re having a tough time of it, for whatever reason, a best friend will move heaven and earth to be there for you.
Although they might not always be able to get there in person, you can be 100% sure they’re thinking of you and a thoughtful gesture will come your way.
Completely comfortable
There comes a stage when you’re such close friends that you need to have the chats while getting ready and going to another room to change would be plain silly.
This also applies to having her tan your back or putting on your fake eyelashes because you’re COMPLETELY useless at it.
Code chat
So you have the moves down and there’s one song that always has you both running for the dancefloor. Or maybe there’s one word or phrase that you just have to mention and you’re both in stitches.
Best friend language is like no other.
A best friend knows everything there is to know
From embarrassing situations to secret crushes, your best friend knows every single little detail about you and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
You finish each other’s sentences
This can be strangely creepy. You’ll find yourself saying the exact same thing at the exact same time because that’s how in tune you guys are.
Distance is irrelevant
You may not see a best friend everyday but it doesn’t matter because when you do meet up, things will be exactly the same as they always were.
That is exactly what makes a friend a best friend.
