VIDEO: Her.ie Wants You To Stay Safe – WK 2: How To React to an Attack From Behind with Krav Maga

This week we want you to learn... how to deal with an attack from behind.

Her

In our second visit to self-defence using Krav Maga, this week we’ll be looking at how a woman can protect herself from an attack from behind.

As mentioned last week, the skills taught in Krav Maga focus on fast and natural responses to the threats people are likely to face from an attacker. As opposed to basing the skills on strength, students are taught the importance of being aware and instinctive to their surroundings.

We’ve teamed up with instructor Patrick and his team at Krav Maga Ireland to bring you some top safety tips that you can easily adapt into your own routine for protection. Each week, we’ll analyse a new skill and demonstrate the method in protecting yourself from a possible attacker.

While last week we demonstrated how to create a safe personal space, this week we’ll show you coping mechanisms if you are caught in an attack from behind. The main aim of this will be to create a space between you and the attacker, allowing you to break away and get help.

For more information on Krav Maga courses available in Ireland, contact Patrick via his website here, or check the team out on Facebook here.
