The only thing better than something that tastes good is something that also does good. The mango is one such fruit.

From helping to lower cholesterol to putting a smile on your face, mangoes have numerous health benefits which is why they always go at the top of our shopping lists and at the top of the ingredients list in some of innocent’s delicious juices.

In case you didn’t know already, mangoes…

1. Fight blemishes

Did you know that mangoes could get you out of a spot of bother? We’ve all woken up to find a blemish (or two) developing but we’ve only just discovered that mangoes, because of the fibre and vitamin C they contain, help to keep pores clear and skin looking healthy.

2. Lower cholesterol

High cholesterol is a common problem but it is also easily fixed. Mangoes are considered very good for your heart in that they reduce both your cholesterol level and blood pressure.

3. Improve digestion

Bloated stomach? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Suffering from constipation is one woe that we frankly do not need. The enzymes in mangoes are excellent for breaking down protein, which means they prevent constipation, reduce bloating and keep your digestion system in healthy, working order.

4. Prevent cancer

Due to the antioxidants they contain, mangoes have been found to keep your immune system in check and protect against cancers including colon and breast.

5. Boost your mood

Feeling a little lethargic and find yourself aimlessly gazing out the window wishing you were finished work and enjoying the sun? Bring a little sunshine back into your day with a mood-boosting piece of mango. The antioxidants in the fruit produce feelings of happiness and prevent stress which means you will have a smile both while and after you consume a portion.
