There’s still time to get your nails in check for party season.

It’s no secret that your beauty regime might need a little extra TLC during the winter months.

Your skin, hair and nails can all suffer at this time of year, as we’re dealing with colder weather conditions and missing out on some crucial vitamins and minerals during the darker, duller days.

Your nails, in particular, can require some extra attention at this time of year and, with Christmas parties and nights out just a few short weeks away, you’re probably not alone if you feel your nails need to get into shape ahead of the festive season.

So with that in mind, we’ve put together some top nail care tips to put into practice over the next few weeks…

1. Cut back on nail appointments

Getting a shiny new set of acrylics or gels is a great way to treat yourself at the end of a long week or month, but they can weaken your natural nails over time. This is because frequent use of acrylics and gel can cause the nails to peel, while the UV lights used during manicures can also age the skin around the nail.

So if you’re looking to improve your nail care over the next few weeks, it might be worth cutting back on these appointments completely or giving your nails longer breaks between manicures, to give them time to recover.

2. Up your vitamin and mineral intake

When it comes to nail health, diet plays a huge role. Drinking enough water and eating a varied and nutritious diet are essential, along with the right mix of vitamins and minerals. If you want to give your nails an extra boost, taking a supplement is sure to make a difference.

Perfectil Nails provide 25 essential micronutrients to nourish your nails from the inside, delivering essential vitamins and minerals – like Vitamin C, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Biotin and Zinc – via the bloodstream. That means your nail beds get loads of the specific nutrients they need, including:

  • Selenium, which contributes to the maintenance of normal nails
  • Copper, which contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissue
  • Horsetail botanical extract, a natural source of silica
  • Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM) provides sulphur, which is an important nutrient found in the outer layer of the skin, hair and nails.

Plus, as well as giving your nails a much-needed boost, Perfectil also provides triple active support for your skin and hair, a brilliant added bonus as you gear up for the festive season.

3. Avoid using products that can damage your nails

Did you know some of your everyday products could be having a negative impact on your nails?

Annoyingly, some nail polishes and polish removers contain chemicals that can actually weaken the nails, so it’s a good idea to check the ingredients on these items before using them. If you use these products regularly, try to avoid nail care brands that contain acetone and use nontoxic polishes where possible.

Equally, avoiding alcohol-based sanitisers and cleaning products may also help protect your nails from unnecessary damage.
