If you need a little chocolate fix to get you over the fact that today is Monday, we have found just the thing for you.
This salted caramel brownie recipe from blogger Something Swanky is the most popular brownie recipe on Pinterest.
In fact, it is so delicious it has been pinned more than one million times.
Yup. One million. That’s a lot of people and a lot of chocolate, guys.
But when you try them and realise just how perfectly thick and fudgy and salty and utterly delicious they are, you will totally get what the fuss is about.
Oh, and here is a tip from the women behind them you should take to heart: Let the caramel sit on the brownies overnight so it seeps into the brownie to make it even more fudgy.
Done.
Ingredients
1 cup butter
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
approximately 10 ounces caramel sauce
coarse sea salt
Directions
Preheat to 350ºF. Lightly grease a 9×9 baking dish.
Melt together the butter and the semi sweet chocolate. Let cool slightly.
Stir in the sugar and the eggs. Mix in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spread the batter in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
Let cool completely before topping with caramel sauce and sprinkling with sea salt.
