It’s a common occurrence in most Irish households to settle in to a night in front of the TV on a Saturday night. There is nothing better than knowing you can just relax all night and not have to be up for work in the morning. Well, the majority anyway.

A new survey, conducted by Cadbury, has discovered the habits that annoy people the most when watching TV and also the lengths they would go to in making sure they get their quality night in on a Saturday.

Over half of the people surveyed agreed that their ideal Saturday night in would be to kick up their feet and watch TV, so much so that they also said they would make up any excuse to escape a night out on the town.

With The X Factor returning on Saturday night, one fifth of people admitted that they cry tears of joy when watching their favourite reality or talent show, with less admitting to crying over sadness on the shows.

When it comes to the big no-nos for watching TV, almost half of the people said that someone else talking during a show is the most annoying thing about watching TV with family or friends. Along with that, they found ‘constant channel surfing’ and ‘constantly checking phones’ other annoying habits when watching TV with others.

As for snacking while watching TV, it will come as no surprise that chocolate ranked highest as the treat of choice. As for who they would like to share it with, females voted for George Clooney the most while the men opted for Jennifer Lawrence.
