Nick Pickard was the fourth celebrity to leave the jungle.
Hollyoaks star, Nick Pickard, has revealed some of the antics from the ‘I’m A Celeb’ camp that didn’t make it to air.
The 48-year-old exited the jungle on Wednesday night, making him the fourth star to be eliminated by the public.
Following his departure, Nick has spilled some behind-the-scenes secrets from camp life that viewers didn’t get to see.
Speaking to The Mirror, the actor revealed that his fellow campmate, Tony Bellew, was terrified of creepy crawlies, so much so that he enlisted the help of producers on one occasion.
The former boxer allegedly used his mic like a phone to send an SOS to producers over a spider.
“We had some funny moments with Tony, there was one night in Snake Rock on the second night because it takes a while after the first couple of days to adjust,” the Hollyoaks star told the outlet.
Despite Tony’s burly and strong exterior, his fear of spiders was too much to leave to chance.
“We saw he’s walking around and I thought ‘what is he doing’ because we’ve all got the radios on and he’s going ‘guys guys guys’ talking into his mic. I thought he was talking to himself but he goes ‘There’s a massive Spider in here’.
“It was on the TV and it was like a tarantula. But the guys send in the security and I mean like, you know, you don’t never see them on the telly but the security guys come in and couldn’t catch him because they’re fast. And so he just batted it into the bushes and went ‘You’re alright it’s just a Huntsman right’.”
The mention of a Huntsman, understandably, was an unnerving experience for the former boxer, who threatened not to sleep after the sighting.
“But yeah a Huntsman isn’t great when you don’t like the sound of it. Tony never went to bed the rest of that night yeah! He said, ”I’m not sleeping in there, it was massive’. That was funny.”
Nick also revealed that Tony accidentally stood into the camps’ food at one point, but it wasn’t enough to put people off eating.
“Tony’s messing around trying to get something sorted and he accidentally put his size 12s right in the food. But all 12 People still queued up for seconds! We was like, ‘I don’t care’, so we’d have new lows every day, how low we’ve sunk.”
The 48-year-old went on to share that when Jamie Lynn Spears’ decided she was a celebrity and wanted to get out of there, she was left waiting hours to actually have that request met.
While show bosses were aware that the actress was leaving the show, storms had forced the camp to almost be evacuated, which delayed her departure.
“We had 12 days of rain and once for 48 hours, it did not stop. That was the night Jamie Lynn went and we had to all huddle because the only place that’s protected in there from the lightning is the Bush Telegraph because it’s the only place that is reinforced with steel.
“So we’re all in there. And we were in there for ages. And that’s when Jamie Lynn had the old like ‘oh my god’, I think she told him just before that she was going on her medical grounds and we’re all huddled in.
“That was the worst night by far because it was 48 hours non stop. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. But then we had to go back out. It was still raining and the thing is with the canopy when it’s even there, the rain still comes in from the side when it’s tropical like that.”
Nick gave Eastenders alum, Danielle Harold, a special mention for being a ‘trooper’ as she was always doing chores behind-the-scenes.
Even when the actress was elected as camp leader, Nick revealed that she was still doing chores for Nigel Farage and Sam Thompson.
Speaking of Sam, the actor described the TV personality and JSL star, Marvin Humes, as entertainment for the camp.
“He was like putting on the telly. Marvin was the jukebox. Sam was a TV.
“Sam wanted to do everything and wanted to help you and he’s just like a little boy. And not that we’re not all fans of the show but I think he’s the biggest fan of the show, he knows what we will do every day,” Nick continued telling The Mirror.
He added that, if he had the choose, the most deserving of the jungle crown would be Sam.
“I think I would say they all deserve to win in my book. But if you’re going for my personal favourite, I think it would be Sam only because it’s just his energy. And also if he doesn’t win I want him to be there at the end because his bucket list is the cyclone trial. Because once you’ve done the cyclone you’ve ticked all the boxes.”
Despite being voted out early, the Hollyoaks actor says he is happy to be back in the real world.
“For me, I can’t say I’m not pleased to be out because for me I’ve done everything I could do in there, I went in there for my family.
“I wanted them to see me do a couple of trials and a few challenges. I wanted to have a nice time and hopefully not make a d*** of myself so I think I have done that.”
The remaining campmates include ‘Made In Chelsea’s’ Sam Thompson, former British politician, Nigel Farage, ‘This Morning’s’ Josie Gibson, JSL star, Marvin Humes and former boxer, Tony Bellew.
The 2023 winner of ‘I’m A Celeb’ will be crowned on Sunday, December 10th.
