Fred was the third celebrity to be eliminated from the show this week.
Fred Sirieix has revealed that he had to step in and convince ‘This Morning’ host, Josie Gibson, not to quit ‘I’m A Celeb’ early.
This week, the ‘First Dates’ star was the third celebrity to leave the jungle after failing to receive enough public votes.
During his time in the jungle, Fred says that the early departures of Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent almost saw Josie follow suit.
Speaking to The Sun, the maître’d says he noticed the presenter wasn’t herself after Jamie Lynn exited the series on medical grounds.
“When Jamie Lynn had her thing and she left, it affected Josie a lot. She just wanted to leave,” he revealed.
However, Fred wasn’t prepared to let another co-star quit and shared what he said that convinced her to stay.
“I was speaking to her and I said, ‘Your son is five years old and the one who feels guilty is you’.
“I understand and recognise the guilt, the children don’t feel the guilt. I said you are the only one who is feeling guilty, you need to get it out of your head.”
Despite this conversation never being aired, many viewers of the show will have been aware that the ‘This Morning’ star has been home sick for her five-year-son son, Reggie.
On last Friday’s episode, Josie became overwhelmed with emotion when speaking about her son to the camp, so much so, that she made her way to the dunny to cry.
When her fellow campmate and former Eastenders star, Danielle Harold, came in and checked on her, Josie replied:
“I just miss my little boy. I shouldn’t have ever left him this long,” to which Danielle replied, “100 per cent you should, you’re showing him that you’re a strong mum, strong woman. So proud of you babe.”
Later in the Bush Telegraph, the mum admitted she felt ‘very guilty’ for taking part in the show.
“Just had a little wobble. You just feel very guilty. I’ll never leave him this long again, ever.”
